The ACHE – SETC Community Outreach & Golf Tournament Committee
kicked off spring 2011 by partnering with the Houston Food Bank
(HFB) and offered chapter members two great community service
opportunities.
On Tuesday April 26, an enthusiastic group of 22 volunteers assisted
with inspecting, assessing and sorting boxes of donated food and
household items, and presorting, relabeling and repacking household
bulk items. This activity took place at the HFB’s Herzstein
warehouse on Eastex Freeway from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

On Saturday May 7, 11 volunteers assisted senior citizens in the
community at Bethel’s Heavenly Hands (BHH) by sorting through
clothing donations so the staff could hand these items out, and
loaded boxes of food donated from the HFB into vehicles. These
activities took place at BHH’s Fondren location from 9:00am to
11:00am.
Both these opportunities were open to ACHE members, as well as
non-members, and offered the chance to bond with family, friends and
coworkers and serve the community. The HFB is doing tremendous
work assisting over 865,000 individuals with food each year in
Houston and southeast Texas. These events helped ACHE - SETC
in pursuing our goals of supporting and giving back to the
community.
The Community Outreach & Golf Tournament Committee looks forward to
our next event – the 12th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday October
6, 2011 at Meadowbrook Farms Country Club.
Stay tuned!
