SETC Awards 2008 Scholarship Winners!
On the evening of
April 24, 2008, at Children’s
Memorial
Herman
Hospital, the
Dr. Jeptha W. Dalston Annual Student
Awards and Recognition Program was held and well attended by members of
our Chapter. Each year the ACHE–SouthEast Texas Chapter honors our student
members by conducting a banquet event to not only recognize the valuable student
support of our Chapter, but provide a special tribute by awarding scholarships
to those who have demonstrated excellence in meeting the criteria (as set forth
by the SETC Student Awards Committee) for receiving Chapter recognition. In
addition,
this year’s program theme was
“Leadership and Development for Healthcare Careers.” Donna
Sollenberger (CEO, Baylor Clinic & Hospital and Executive Vice President,
Baylor College of Medicine) spoke on “Managing Your Career for Success” and
Jo Anne Masson (Vice President for Strategic Planning and Market Research)
provided her insights on “Strategic Planning for Career Development.”
From left to right: Don Wagner, Jan Wagner,
Regina Richardson, and Daniel Gonzalez.
Don Wagner, SETC Board Advisor, who provided
his personal endearing comments in tribute to the late Dr. Jeptha
Dalston, presented the Dr. Jeptha W. Dalston Scholarship ($2,500) to
Daniel Gonzalez.
Daniel, an UHCL
graduate student, begins his fellowship, June 2008, at St. Luke’s
Episcopal Health System.
Mr. Wagner also presented the Don Wagner Scholarship ($2,500) to
Regina Richardson, a
UHCL graduate student who will be starting, this summer, her
residency/fellowship position at
Venice
Regional
Medical Center
in Florida.
Congratulations to this year’s winners! We wish them much success as
they begin their careers in health administration.
Special thanks to all those who contributed to
the success of this unique annual program.
