It is a privilege and an honor to be the 2012 Chapter President/Chair. Our theme this year is FUTURE LEADERSHIP: VISION AND ACTION FOR REALISTIC CHANGE. 2012 Congress Scholarship Recipients!

Congratulations to the following MHA graduate students who were recently awarded an ACHE-SETC scholarship to attend the 2012 ACHE Congress in Chicago, March 19-22. This annual scholarship covers all expenses (registration fee and travel) during the duration of the Congress.

This year's ACHE Congress "focuses on what healthcare professionals need to advance their organization and career". Upon their return from the Congress each student will provide a brief overview of their experience to the Chapter's Board of Directors' during their quarterly meeting.
 
We wish all of you a great experience while you attend educational seminars, career development programs and networking opportunities at the Congress.


"What's up Boss?" Event Breaks Attendance Record!

Since 2005, when Mark Wallace, President/CEO, Texas Children's Hospital came up with the idea of a "What's up Boss?" (WUB) event to bring seasoned executives, early and mid-careerists and health administration graduate students together for an evening of shared professional experiences and career advice, this once-every-two-years program has proven to be quite a popular tradition. Dr. David J. Fine Honored with an ACHE -SETC Academic Scholarship Established in his Name

During the opening of the Chapter's "What's up Boss?" event Todd A. Caliva, FACHE, President/Chair, 2011 ACHE-SETC, recognized Dr. David J. Fine, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Luke's Episcopal Health System, with an academic scholarship established in his honor.  The scholarship, in the amount of $5,000, will be awarded academically to a graduate student from the southeast Texas region pursuing a degree in healthcare administration. Fall Golf Tournament - A Great Success!

The ACHE – SETC Community Outreach and Golf Tournament Committee held their 12th Annual Golf Tournament on October 6, 2011.  A break in the summer heat made the tournament enjoyable for the golfers and our great volunteers alike.  The tournament benefited the Star of Hope in support of their mission, to meet the needs of the homeless in the Houston area.  Read more.

ACHE – SETC Introduces NEW Sponsorship Program!

The Board of Directors for ACHE – SETC have recently approved the development of a new funding program (“Educational Development Initiative”, EDI) to promote higher educational programs, provide charitable contributions to the community, and provide more scholarships for health administration graduates, early and mid careerists throughout the Chapter’s southeast Texas region consisting of over 1200 members. Currently the Chapter is applying for a 501 (c) (3) that would allow individuals and for-profit organizations to contribute to the EDI as a charitable gift.
